The Houblon noir gets its inspiration from India Pale Ales (IPA). Occasionally. the drying of the malts was over done which gave much darker ales, sometimes even black. The results of those “once in a while batches“ have gained in popularity in the microbrewery world since the mid 1990’s. The Houblon noir offers arobust bitterness character with clean citrus notes and evergreen resins on top of which a noteworthy level of maltyness, roasted cereals and grilled cookie flavours is perceived.
